While I do not subscribe the concept of Anthropogenic Global Warming (I believe in Heliogenic), I do understand we have a real problem on this little planet of ours.
I am an old school environmentalist who fully understands the problem (pollution) with our dependence on Methane based hydrocarbon fuels (I don't call them fossil fuels because there's enough Methane/Oil on Saturn's moon Titan to power mankind's civilization indefinitely).
This article/blog is a prime example of WHY we need to start seriously converting to nuclear, wind, solar, and hydrogen fuels.

The problem with conversion however is that we need a real world-wide effort to convert existing automobiles to hydrogen (distilled water based) combustion engines.
Simply getting rid of cars, trucks, etc. is not an option.
In the short term we need to start holding corporations and politicians accountable for these kinds of environmental disasters.
BP shouldn't have been drilling that deep, it was due to political pressure from the EPA that they did, and the result has been a far worse situation then if they had simply drilled in 500 foot deep waters.
