Norman Winski's The Sword and the Sorcerer is by far the truest S&S novel (though not the best) I think I've ever read.
It was a great book (horrible movie) that I just couldn't put down when I first read it and it has all of the elements required for its genre.
It's a bit on the overly erotic side (lots of sex scenes), but that lends itself to this genre which is known for its sex appeal (women in ridiculously scanty chainmail bikinis being among the most obvious).
A fun read if there ever was one.
Far more entertaining than the movie.
