Description/Overview:
         The V’lor Benai was the fist major spacecraft development in nearly 8460 years of the 1st Prodono Republic Space Navy’s existence.  Prior to the V’lor Benai, the Raul Zhem-Kai was the largest cruiser in service with the galactic fleet.  Only the dreadnaughts and battlecruisers of the old Prodono Consortium were larger in size and scope, but those craft lacked the fold systems and advanced weapons of the newly developed V’lor Benai.
         Initially conceived of as a dreadnaught, the new class of battlefrigate was intended to fill the role of numerous types of warships all at once.  It was yet another attempt by the 1st Prodono Republic at building an all-purpose spacecraft.  Amazingly, the V’lor Benai was adept at performing nearly all missions for which it was required.  With its complement of battlesuits and spacefighters, the V’lor Benai was able to conduct planetary assault operations and act as an escort-carrier within the alien fleet.  Its impressive array of weaponry allowed the vessel to engage in ship-to-ship combat with even the largest warships of its era.  This class of spacecraft quickly overshadowed the old corvettes, destroyer-escorts, and frigates that comprised the bulk of the warships in the Prodono Republic Space Navy forces.  It was produced in extremely large numbers and may have even been produced in greater quantity than the Raul Zhem-Kai.  According to Xiang’s findings within the archival data of the alien battlefactory, the sheer number of V’lor Benai class battlefrigates made them the prime choice for the Prodono Federation to continue their use as escorts even after their primary role as a battlefrigate had been replaced by newer designs.  The V’lor Benai was so successful that it influenced a whole family of warships for thousands of years after its production had ceased.
         The main power plant of the V’lor Benai was one Obuch-Ron Type-20105-140000 140,000-megawatt fusion reactor.  This reactor was not remarkable in any way as larger size reactors were already common when this unit was put into production.  It had a twenty-year supply of fuel, which at the time was considered acceptable for a ship like the V’lor Benai.
         The main engine of the V’lor Benai was one Z’Katan-Feul ZF-20180-2500 Hyperspace Fold Flight System.  This type of faster-than-light drive was standard among starships of the mid-Prodono Republic era and was typical of spacecraft in the V’lor Benai class of battlefrigate.  This engine was able to propel the craft through hyperspace at a real space equivalent speed of 10 light-years per hour.
         The sublight engines for interplanetary travel consisted of four H’Taka-Feul HF-20815-25000 photon particle drives mounted in two dual-pack nacelles.  Each of these PPDs could propel the V’lor Benai at .10C (10% the speed of light) giving the craft a total speed of .40C (40% light speed).  This gave the V’lor Benai excellent intra-Solar System travel time and allowed for rapid deployment and interception within the typical-sized star-system.
         The combat speed engines of the V’lor Benai consisted of two Gruel-Khan GK-20804-5000 fusion thruster engines mounted in individual engine blisters under each of the “wing” sections of the vessel.  Each of these thrusters was able to propel the warship at speeds of up to 152,000 mph and gave the craft a total maximum speed of 304,000 mph.  This velocity was perfect for battle conditions within a fleet of ships and in and around the vicinity of a planet.
         The weapons of the V’lor Benai were strictly energy type, as this craft was part of a new battle doctrine of the Prodono space forces, which had all but eliminated the use of slug weapons and missile armaments due to the internal volume the ammunition these weapon types consumed.
         The main batteries of the V’lor Benai were five Xergin-Tah Type-XT-20330 triple ion blaster cannons.  Each of these triple cannon turrets was mounted in a strategic position on the battlefrigate to provide the best possible coverage for the craft.  These ion blasters were used both for offensive and defense purposes.  Most often, two or more of these triple-cannon turrets were used collectively against a single target for maximum destructive effect.
         The secondary main batteries were six Urgoh-Tah Type-UT-20691 disruptor cannon batteries.  These weapons were very effective against capital warships and other vessels and were used almost exclusively as offensive weapons.  These six cannons were mounted in two banks of three turrets each and all six could be used against a single target when they were all fired forward.
         For heavy assault operations, the V’lor Benai was fitted with a pair of Pa’Zhin Mogul-Tah Type-PZMT-19790 particle accelerator cannons mounted in external forward-facing barbette-blisters.  These cannons had more destructive power than the disruptor cannons but a much shorter range, thus the PACs were used more for defense against capital warships and for planetary bombardment purposes.
         Like the Raul Zhem-Kai before it, the V’lor Benai used both stasis chambers and escape pods.  This provided the maximum survivability for the crew and allowed for large numbers of mecha pilots to be carried on the ship without the need for constant resupply or internal volume allocation for quarters and supplies.  In short, these systems made the V’lor Benai a more effective fighting vessel overall.
         The V’lor Benai was the main spacecraft of the Neo-Hebrews of Saturn after the 1st Interplanetary War, and the vessel’s refit, known as the Merkava class, became the genesis for a whole assortment of new classes of Hebrew warships that spanned nearly 1000 years.
