Description/Overview:
The Qoruen-Ha’Jan Type-Q18961 space superiority fighter was the mainstay of the Prodono aerospace forces from the millennia prior to the Prodono 1st Republic up until at least the Prodono Federation period 2.2000 GS (280,000 BC Earth Relative). The Qoruen-Ha’Jan was the most successful fighter built by the Prodono and was so versatile a machine as to never lose its effectiveness in the roles it was assigned. The Type-Q18961 was initially built in 1.8961 GS (310,390 BC Earth Relative) as the main spacefighter of the old Prodono Consortium of Planets that existed prior to the 1st Prodono Republic. With the formation of the 1st Prodono Galactic Republic in 2.0000 GS (300,000 BC Earth Relative), the Qoruen-Ha’Jan was reassigned to strictly interceptor and planetary assault duties. The Type-Q18961 performed both duties with unsurpassed excellence and remained in these roles until the introduction of the Hai-Richon battlesuit in 2.0147 GS. The Hai-Richon became the main interceptor of the Prodono fleets, thus the Type-Q18961 was needed only as a guard escort for the K’or Kai class of dropship, which was unarmed. The Qoruen-Ha’Jan was given the role of anti-warship attack fighter in 2.0211 when the much older Qoruen-Tha’Jan Type-Q17895 was decommissioned from service due to its age and obsolescence. The Type-Q17895 could no longer keep up with the improved engines of newer warship classes and thus the Qoruen-Ha’Jan, which used more modern propulsion systems, replaced the ailing Type-Q17895 easily.
The propulsion systems of the Qoruen-Ha’Jan consisted of four Rhe-Phuel-Ken PRK-6-18905 15-megawatt photon particle drives. Each of these drives could move the ship at speeds of up to .10C (10% the speed of light or 18,600 miles per second) with a combined total speed of .40C (40% light speed or 74,400 miles per second). These engines provided considerable speed for unprecedented range for such a small spacecraft.
The power plant of the Type-Q18961 was one Obuch-Ron Type-18004 225-megawatt fusion reactor. This power plant provided just enough power for the spacefighter and was the same reactor as that used on the Type-Q17895 Qoruen-Tha’Jan attack fighter/torpedo-bomber.
The Type-Q18961 Qoruen-Ha’Jan was armed with a forward-mounted Glek”Rhugan Xergin-Moai-Tah Type-GRXMT-18001 15-megawatt rapid-fire triple blaster gun. This weapon was originally built in 1.8001 GS (319,990 BC Earth Relative) and was the same weapon system mounted on the Type-Q17895 and other earlier models. This triple blaster was powered by a 75-megawatt nuclear battery with energy clutch that allowed for a higher cyclic rate of fire, and thus the triple cannon could shoot in bursts of up to fifteen blasts per ten seconds. This gave the fighter considerable firepower from its energy weapon alone.
The triple blaster was excellent for use against mecha and light spacecraft, but for anti-warship, spacestation, and planetary base operations, the Qoruen-Ha’Jan required a more powerful punch. Thus, a pair of Kazhan-Nek-Tha’gurl Type-TNTG-19890 medium-range torpedo launchers was added. These launchers were mounted in retractable launcher racks in the wings of the spacefighter. The Type-TNTG-19890 fired the Kazhan-Tsa Type-KT18090 space torpedo first introduced in 1.8090 GS (319,100 BC Earth Relative), which was armed with an 800-pound high explosive armor piercing warhead. This missile was the standard spacefighter/torpedo-bomber type used
by the Prodono since before the 1st Prodono Republic.
